Afterthoughts from BJJ class

This morning as we learned how to apply the triangle from guard I began to think about how important small movements, proper placement and attention to details truly are in BJJ.

Coach Cory came around and pointed out the difference between thumb up versus thumb down on a collar grip when defending the guard (thumb means push away, up means pull towards).

I was having difficulty getting the triangle in and he showed us that angling a bit more makes the difference between a tap and an escape.

This is where I am starting to understand when people talk about technique over strength and power.
